A Great Year For The Tortoise Rescue Centre

A Great Year For The Tortoise Rescue Centre
Last year we saw more tortoises join us at the centre, more than we ever thought likely (or possible). We are at full capacity with some species and rapidly running out of space with the others. We have been desperate to expand and help more people.

All of this costs money, and money is in short supply! We have had vet bills to cover and lost our fight against Opus Energy. Luckily Love Energy brokered a fixed rate monthly electric bill with us in the summer. We were delighted with the deal. Despite Opus agreeing that we have been mis-sold and mis-led, they are refusing to honour the contract. The ombudsman has also refused to enforce the contract.

Despite these costs and set backs, two generous individuals have made donations this week. The donations will go a long way towards covering the costs of the electricity bill for the year. Obvously, we need to heat the tortoise enclosures throughout the winter, keeping are babies warm and safe, but this does reult in large bills.

These donations mean that we are so much closer to funding the new paddocks next door to the main tortoise paddocks. We are excited about being so much closer to achieving this.

Massive thanks to Melanie Attridge from Hampshire and Mr and Mrs Peckett from Exete. You guys are absolute heroes. If you would like to make a donation, or even set up a regular payment, please get in  contact with us.

There are several ways that you can donate, probably the easiest being to click on the donate button below. This will take you to the Givey website, where you can quickly fill in your details and make a payment.

You can also set up a regular payment by downloading this standing order form and printing it. You can then fill it in and send to your bank.
